New Horizons Band Concert

The New Horizons Band will be performing their Spring Concert at the Oakmont Berger Center on Saturday, March 28, the Center for Spiritual Living on Saturday, May 2nd, and the Healdsburg Community Church on Sunday, May 17th. All concerts are FREE and start at 2:00 p.m., lasting approximately 75 minutes.
The New Horizons Band is a group of 80 musicians who are 50 and older. Currently the youngest member is 61, most are in their mid 70’s to late 80’s and 4 are in their 90’s!
Psychology Today has determined that “Adults who play an instrument are significantly less likely to develop dementia. Other benefits include regulated blood pressure, lower heart rate, greater lung capacity and increased dopamine production.”
In addition to these physiological benefits, playing music in a group enhances one’s social life and increases a sense of belonging to a community. According to the Blue Zones Studies, having a strong community is a major contributor to longevity.
Come enjoy this dedicated group of musicians as they perform their Spring Concerts. You will hear two rousing marches, a ballad, a Gershwin tune with a soloist, music from Cole Porter, and the Mamas and Papas, and a wild rendition of TV cartoon theme songs and more!
