ABOUT Stu Allen & Mars Hotel
Since 1995, guitarist and vocalist Stu Allen has dedicated himself to keeping the spirit and music of the Grateful Dead alive on stage. Over the years he has worked closely with Phil Lesh and shared the stage with Bob Weir and Bill Kreutzmann, earning a reputation as one of the most authentic interpreters of the Dead’s music.

Many fans know Stu from his years fronting Melvin Seals’ tribute to the Jerry Garcia Band from 2004 to 2011, as well as his national tour with Dark Star Orchestra in 2010. With his expressive guitar work, soulful vocals, and deep understanding of the Dead’s musical language, Allen approaches every show as a living, breathing moment.

With Mars Hotel, Allen leads a rotating lineup of standout Bay Area musicians who share that same improvisational spirit. Songs stretch, shift, and evolve night to night, with constantly changing setlists and fresh interpretations that keep even the most familiar tunes exciting.

The result is a show that captures the exploratory, communal energy that made the Grateful Dead legendary—a performance where the music is alive, the moment is unique, and the audience becomes part of the journey.
